Salford Zine Library

Salford Zine Library at Blaze Festival, Burnley

At the end of the month our Cherry’s off to Burnley to run a week of zine making workshops at the Crib, Burnley Library as part of this year’s Blaze arts festival – a week of events all over Lancashire celebrating and showcasing new work by young artists, film makers and performers from around the county.

As well as this series of free, hands on workshops Cherry will also be kick starting the Burnley Zine Library. Along with the zines made during the festival we’re on the hunt for donations. No donation is too small (or large) If you’ve been thinking of finding a new home for your zine collection the Crib could well be it. Once the festival’s over the zine library will be run by a dedicated and enthusiastic bunch of young people involved with the centre.

Nestled above the main library space, the Crib offers young people the opportunity and equipment to learn a range of creative art skills as well as a space to socialise and collaborate; with projects running throughout the year are directly led by the young people using the service.

Cherry has been making zines for about 15 years (let’s face it, half her life) and running workshops for the last few, sharing her passion for self publishing. Cherry runs Synchronise Witches press and puts out the quarterly girl zine the Chapess.

In the meantime, please help spread the word (facebook/twitter tell your friends, drop Cherry an email (at cherrystyles at hotmail.co.uk) if you like, have a gander at the full Blaze festival programme here and/or send your zine donations to:
