As part of Salford Zine Library’s #twothousandsixzine programme of exhibitions, events and workshops, we’re going to be hosting a mail art exhibition curated by SZL’s very own Liz Murray Jones, celebrating the magic of getting zines and making friends via the post. We’re looking for people to submit to the exhibition, which is going to be called PENPALS and will run from November 12th 2016. There are two ways to get involved:
Mail art: decorate an envelope any way you want (collage, illustration, whatever you feel like) and send it to us in the postĀ orĀ pop it into our postbox in the zine library itself. We’ll also be hosting our fourth Zine Club at Manchester Craft Centre on November 12th between 2pm and 5pm. It’s going to be FREE and we’ll be making some top mail art as part of the workshop – come along, make something beautiful and then submit to the exhibition (if you like) or write a letter and send it to your favourite penpal.
Send us a letter: write us a letter about the zines you’ve received in the post, the friends you’ve made and the communities you’ve been involved in. You can email them to us as well if you like, to salfordzinelibrary@gmail.com
Post submissions to:
PENPALS
Salford Zine Library
40 Jutland House

(as ever, this isn’t the address for the zine library, just where we get submissions sent to!)
Early entries could also be featured in the zine that will accompany the exhibition. Let us know if you do not wish to be included!
Any questions, tweet us or send us an email. And share this post with all your penpals too!
